A MORNING WITH OSPREY

Went off on Thursday morning to photograph young ospreys in a nest at Robb Field here in San Diego. We had a clear sunny morning, a start to a very hot day in San Diego County. There are three young birds and then a Mom seen in these pictures. They fledged yesterday! Will have to go back next year to see what happens as this is a popular nest site and has been used for a number of years.

TESTING WINGS
As most of you know San Diego County has been battling a number of fires this past week. It was a very hot week, but the weather has finally cooled down and the winds have subsided. The fire crews are getting the upper hand on the fires, and all residents who had been evacuated from their homes have returned. The fires are still burning but a couple have been fully contained, and some of the smaller fires are out. Almost all of this occurred in North County. We will have to be ever vigilant this summer due to the extreme dry conditions throughout the state and the southwest.

  1. What a sight, three youngsters. Yes, a very bad year for fire.
