CALIFORNIA COAST JANUARY 2O17 - 5

SATURDAY, 7 JANUARY

We continued to have overcast skies with occasional rain showers. This did not deter us as we headed back to Pacific Grove for a morning shoot. Once again the subject was long exposures of the surf around the near by rock formations. This time I liked more of what I captured and enjoyed the effect.

After the shoot we found the Café Trieste for breakfast where we enjoyed the warmth of the setting, good food, and coffee.

We were then off to Moss Landing, which is located North of Monterey. We went there to find the otters that frequent the slough there. We were quite successful. There was a good sized group that were swimming along and if you were nimble enough to get up on the rock wall they came quite close. Regrettably I missed that opportunity, but did get some good photos of otters swimming and hauling out on the nearby beach.

These two birds caught my eye as well.

On the way back to Monterey I asked Mark if we could swing my old home which was only a block and a half off of Del Monte Ave. The house has been remodeled into two stories, the big oak tree which was in the front yard is long gone, and the back yard has been filled with a large garage/workshop – no play area or fruit trees any more.

The afternoon outing was cancelled due to high winds and rain. As a result we had some needed down time at the Motel before heading to the Wharf for dinner. Tonight we ate at Abalonetti’s where I enjoyed cioppino, a specialty of theirs.
