The
second day we explored Wetherill Mesa,
and took the ranger led tour of Long House. This is their most in depth walk,
and we were on the first of the day. The ruins is quite large with a variety of
rooms, and a commanding view out into the canyon.

After visiting the ruins we

After lunch we took the shuttle to the overlooks for Kodak
House and Long House. Kodak House received its name from
the camera that was left in one of the rooms by early investigator Gustaf Nordenskiold.

We also took the short hike
to Step House Ruins which faced East. This ruin has both pithouses and cliff
dwellings and shows how the area was occupied both in the late 500’s and then again in the 1200s.

Long House was always my favorite tour. I played an ocarina from the dance plaza which softly echoed off the alcove walls. You took some great shots. Thanks for the memories.
ReplyDeleteThe sound of the ocarina would be a very nice touch. Glad you enjoyed the pictures.
